Ecuadorian, first woman President and Constitutional Vice President of the Republic of Ecuador. She was Vice Minister of Culture and Minister of Education. Former Secretary General of the Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization.
She is a lawyer, a doctor of jurisprudence, a journalism graduate and a Master's degree in anthropology.
He was a member of the Editorial Board of the Encyclopedia Britannica, member of the board of directors of CATIE, University of Costa Rica. She is currently Executive President of the FIDAL Foundation, a member of the World Academy of Arts and Sciences, serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Library of Alexandria in Egypt, is an honorary member of the Royal Academy of Doctors of Europe and High Commissioner of the Panamazonia of Manaus - Brazil. She is also an advisor on education for the China-North American Business Association of California, Member of the Honorary Council of the SEK University of Ecuador, President of IBEC, Member of the Council of Regents of the University of Otavalo and President of the Social Advisory Council of the Foundation CoFuture.
He has received some decorations, among them: Order of the Congress of Colombia in the Extraordinary Cross Degree, awarded in Santafé de Bogotá-Colombia, Green Award of the Americas-Brazil, IV Award for Ecotourism and sustainability. Order of Cartographic Merit - Grand Officer - by the Brazilian Navy. Decoration of Emeritus Administrator of the Amazon, distinction granted by the network of Amazonian Universities - UNAMAZ - Brazil and that of Rio Branco in the degree of Grand Cross - Government of Brazil. He received the highest decoration from the Legislative Assembly of the State of Goias in Brazil; and the Castillo Azul decoration. Government of Tarija- Bolivia. Decoration "José Peralta" - H. Provincial Government of Azuay and Decoration Casa Castilla de la Mancha - Madrid in 2017.
This year 2018 he received Amazon citizenship by the Legislative Assembly of the State of Amazonas, Recognition of the Very Illustrious Municipality of Guayaquil and Marieta de Veintimilla recognition of the Municipality of the Metropolitan District of Quito. She was declared an Illustrious Guest of the Municipalities of Oruro and Cochabamba in Bolivia, Guest of honor of the city of Los Angeles County and Illustrious Visitor by the Honorable Senate of the province of Buenos Aires, Argentina.
She is Professor Honoris Causa of the University of Tarapoto in Peru and Doctor Honoris Causa of the International University of California.
He has published 14 books of essays, poetic prose, poetry, short stories, children's and youth literature. His poems have been part of several anthologies in Ecuador and in other countries.
