The Yellow Room welcomes the painting of Rosalía Arteaga as president

.

On the morning of July 3, Rosalía Arteaga, along with her three children and her sisters, visited the Carondelet Palace to observe the portrait that was placed in the Yellow Room, after 21 years of having been the first female president of the Republic.

.

The initiative to place the painting was requested by a group of Pan-American women, led by Graciela Mayorga, towards President Lenín Moreno, who gave room for just recognition. From the Presidency they asked for his portrait, and since last Friday, June 29, he has been seen in the Yellow Room with the former presidents of Ecuador.

.

Arteaga feels a deep emotion that after so long his image is exhibited, the same one that is the work of the painter Alfonso Endara. It considers that it is a vindication with the history and with the women of Ecuador.

.

His time in power spanned six days, between February 6 and 11, 1997, after the fall of Abdalá Bucaram and before the unconstitutional possession of Fabián Alarcón. His presidential term was recognized during the government of Lucio Gutiérrez (2003-2005).

.

As a FIDAL Foundation, it is an honor that the work carried out by Rosalía Arteaga is written in the history of the country; the same one that continues to change the course of Ecuador through her work in education, democracy and the environment as executive president of FIDAL and in her various activities around the world.
