A Cuencano and a Mexican are the winners of the FIDAL Educational Excellence Contest
.
The Cuenca teacher Pablo Tenesaca and the Mexican teacher Margarita Euán Vázquez are the winners of the XI National and VI Ibero-American Contest of Educational Excellence organized by FIDAL.

Tenesaca, educator at the "Rosa de Jesús Cordero" Educational Unit, established himself as the best Ecuadorian teacher thanks to his project "Educating with space sciences. Astronomy and Astrophysics", which promotes the study of science and inclusion and recognition of the significant role that women have in the scientific field As part of the recognition of their work, they received a $ 10,000 grant from Editorial Santillana and a trip to the International Congress of Educational Innovation, in Monterrey.

For its part, "WII, inclusion of ICT", authored by Euán together with three fellow teachers from the Centro de Baachillerato Tecnológico Agropecuario No 24 de Chiapas, México, was chosen as the best project at the Ibero-American level for proposing the design of didactic strategies that promote the development of professional skills in students from the inclusion of ICT. The financial award that the teacher won was $ 5,000 from Unicef and she will travel to Microsoft's global education event.

In addition, all the national and Latin American finalists received awards: scholarships for master's degrees, trips to Latin American countries, trips to Israel, computers, online courses and diplomas, etc. All this, thanks to the support of private companies and higher education centers that believe in this Contest.

"From FIDAL we insist so much on working for you (teachers), on doing it in the most constant way, because we will have a better Ecuador, a better Latin America, if we bet on education and its transformative work," said Rosalía Arteaga Serrano, Executive President of FIDAL, at the opening of the event.

At this ceremony, the Noûs Lifetime Achievement Award was presented for their dedicated humanitarian work to promote peace, education and culture to Princess María Amor of Baloí, Philippines, and Ben Lai, president of China US Business Association. Along with them, the Ecuadorians were awarded: Fabián Zurita, mountaineer and educator for more than 40 years; José Miguel Salem, director of Danzas Jazz; the Guayaquil historian and journalists author of 26 books Jenny Estrada; Cristóbal Flores, president of the Governing Council of the Cordillera Technological Institute, and Father Jesús Álvarez Benjumea, parish priest of San Francisco de Asís (Penipe).

For eleven consecutive years, FIDAL has rewarded teachers' innovative ideas and classroom practices in the Educational Excellence Contest. In this edition, 166 projects belonging to teachers from Sierra, Costa, Amazonia and 13 Ibero-American countries were registered.

FIDAL paid tribute to the teachers of Ecuador and the region, on the award night of the Educational Excellence Contest, yesterday, April 16, at the Casa de la Música.
