On April 16, 2016 at 6:58 p.m. an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.8 hit Ecuador and especially the provinces of Manabí and Esmeraldas, although damage was also evidenced in Santa Elena, Guayas, Santo Domingo and Los Ríos. According to data provided by the United Nations, in a publication called “Ecuador Flash Appel”, of the 7.9 million inhabitants of the affected provinces, 350,000 need assistance in the next 3 to 6 months.

FIDAL Foundation, designed an intervention strategy for the Pedernales canton. This strategy has 3 components, and will be implemented throughout 2016 and 2017.
