Inauguration of the Pilot Plan of the project: STEM Academy - Ecuador of Fundación Fidal

This July 23, 2018, the Opening Ceremony of the pilot plan of the project: STEM Academy in Ecuador was held in the Auditorium of the ESPE library. The event was attended by authorities from the FIDAL Foundation, the University of the Armed Forces - ESPE, teachers participating in the program, invited schools and students from related careers.

In this meeting, topics were addressed regarding how Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics merge in the global STEM pedagogical movement, which transforms teaching practices and seeks to train human beings who look at the world in an integral way. It was also learned how today's students can, through the design and execution of interdisciplinary projects, acquire new learning while pursuing the objective of contributing, with their ideas, to the creation of a better world.

We seek to change the idea that only teachers can and should teach, that scientists should work alone, and that the future of our country is in the hands of political leaders.

An important challenge for the region and Ecuador is STEM. (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Education is closely linked to the challenges of competitiveness and employability of countries. To address these challenges, education systems must consider a focus on competencies. Competencies do not occur if there is no learning.

Fundación FIDAL's STEM project seeks teachers who dare to think differently about this, who seek to be protagonists and not mere spectators of what is happening around them and to join with professionals from other fields to impact the lives of future generations.
