.
FIDAL directs its work towards academic excellence and the search for learning alternatives. That is why, on the morning of June 26, the E-STEM Classroom (Ethics, Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) was inaugurated within the institution, to provide the educational sector with a space in which to innovate and learn from different way.
.
In the presence of teachers, authorities, sponsors and friends of the Foundation, the executive president of FIDAL, Rosalía Arteaga, opened this space. “It is important for FIDAL to have made a dream come true, which is the construction of this classroom. All of this is developed by the faith we have in education. We put this classroom at your disposal ”, he mentioned.
In the E-STEM Classroom, trainings and workshops are held on E-STEM, Project-Based Learning (PBL), Use of technologies, Class management and Use of scientific tools, in which teachers from different schools in Quito participate, including the Juan de Salinas Educational Unit, the May 24 School, the Salesiano Don Bosco, the Carlos Larco Educational Unit, the Lev Vygotsky Educational Unit, etc.
.
Mónica Torres, STEM expert and FIDAL collaborator, explains that STEM is an educational approach that seeks for students to have a holistic thinking and look at the complete reality, in addition to feeling agents linked to that reality and with the power to improve it. FIDAL has incorporated Ethics because it is a discipline that must be included in all subjects.
Last December the first STEM Mentoring pilot plan was completed, applied in Juan de Salinas for ten weeks, thanks to the joint work of ESPE, Microsoft, FIDAL and the STEM Academy. For the new school year in the Sierra, more teachers are expected to start mentoring in their classrooms.
