Ninth National and Fourth Ibero-American Contest of Educational Excellence

A night full of surprises to reward the best teachers from Ecuador and Latin America. 42 finalist projects for the Noûs for Educational Excellence, 7 life trajectory awards, among them the Pies Descalzos Foundation, led by Shakira, 25 artists on stage.

Seven projects achieved the Noûs for Educational Excellence during the award night of the Ninth National and Fourth Ibero-American Contest.

.

This edition had the participation of 42 finalist projects, 36 national and 6 international competed for the Noûs; statuette that symbolizes the effort and innovation of the teacher in his daily task of educating.

After hard work, the members of the international jury, made up of renowned personalities from the academic world, from Spain, Chile and Cuba, announced the final verdict with the 7 projects that achieved Excellence 2017. Tomás Linares and Oscar Pietri, teachers Venezuelans, were awarded the Noûs statuette of Ibero-American Educational Excellence.

The statuettes for National Educational Excellence went to: Jesús Emilio Caiza Oña (Pichincha), project "Reuse of pet plastic bottles and use of solar radiation"; Héctor Zapata and Ángel Albán (Sto. Domingo de Los Tsáchilas), project “Eco-Ruta el Paseo de los Anturios”; Sergio Cuzco Caguana (Guayas), project “” Towards interactive learning in classrooms with the PDI ”; Diego Caiza Guevara (Pichincha), project "Ecuador virtual walk"; Samantha León (Pichincha), "Citizens of the World" project and José Jiménez Moncayo (Guayas), "Micro-business development" project.

The aforementioned teachers raised the trophy in recognition of the innovation of their educational proposals, in addition they were awarded scholarships in various higher education centers, international internships, among other prizes that exceed 30,000 USD per winning project.

In this year, the international jury decided to award a special prize to Social and Educational Development for the project of Socio-educational Inclusion and Early Childhood Care –Guagua Centers- for its support to education from the social field and in recognition of its institutional trajectory .

The Noûs award for Lifetime Achievement was raised in the hands of national and international personalities who have made history for their contribution to the social, cultural and educational improvement of peoples. Among the personalities who received recognition for their social contribution, the following stand out: Patricia Sierra from Fundación Pies Descalzos and César Ferreira, within the international category and, for Ecuador, the winners were Rosa Amelia Alvarado Roca, Gloria Astudillo Loor, José Brito Albuja , Susana Cordero de Espinosa, Bárbara Lara, Carlos Paladines Escudero, Edgar Samaniego Rojas.

Since 2008, Fundación Fidal has delivered its full potential to strengthening education, through training and recognition of educators who, day by day, contribute their knowledge, time and innovative ideas to launch projects that, due to their excellence, they can be replicated in the region.

Nine years of the Educational Excellence Contest are translated into 13 applicant countries, 848 educational projects, 1707 participating teachers and 69 winning teachers, who have received specialization courses, scholarships for master's degrees, inside and outside the country, international observation tours, among others. Awards that seek to raise the capacities of teachers to bring out the best in education, helping to strengthen the teacher's self-esteem for regional development.
